The name our country is Bangladesh. It is a small country in south-east Asia. It became independent in 1971. The total land area of Bangladesh is 144,000 sq. kilometers. But her population is very large. It is a thickly populated country. About 1000 people live per sq. kilometer. The main rivers of Bangladesh are Padma, the Meghna and the Jamuna. The main crops of our country are jute, rice, tea, wheat, sugarcane etc. We earn a lot of foreign currency by exporting jute and tea. Chittagong and Mongla are its two sea-ports. Bangladesh is a democratic country. She is the member of U.N.O, Commonwealth etc. It is a developing country. Bangladesh is a small country but has a huge population. Most people here live below the poverty line and cannot therefore afford to education their children.

National flag always represents the independence of a country. Our national flag also does the same. Its size is 10:6. There are two colors. There is red circle in the middle of the green flag. The red circle symbolizes our blood shedding in our freedom fight as well as the red sun. On the other land of green color indicates the green fields of our country. We have to sacrifice much for nine months war in 1971 to active it. I feel very proud of my national flag because whenever and wherever I see the national flag it reminds me that I am a citizen of a free country.
